Stevie Nicks - In Your Dreams

Posted on 10:34 by Unknown

It's been a solid ten years since we last heard a new album from Stevie Nicks and that turns out to be a really good thing because she sounds fantastic. There are moments on this platter that you will swear are from the glory days of '74 & '75. She sounds as if the fountain of youth has worked its magic on some of the unbelievably great performances. The production team of Glen Ballard and Dave Stewart have worked a miracle with this album helping Stevie release her best set of songs since the massively successful Bella Donna. This just proves how great Dave Stewart is/was and that the Eurythmics were much more his than Annie's creatively.

I will admit I really was shocked when I heard "Secret Love" and liked it enough to purchase the single from I-Tunes. So I had high hopes for this record which almost always ruins albums from getting too much hype. That just doesn't happen while listening to In Your Dreams. The song "Wide Sargasso Sea" is one of the albums truly brilliant pieces of work. The rhythm is infectious the instrumentation is out of this world and the swirling vocal she lays over top is haunting and beautiful. I got five songs deep in this record and if it ended right there I would feel I got my money's worth. The complete satisfaction of hearing a legend this far into her career releasing what I will go on record to say is by far the best thing she's ever done as a solo artist is so rare. I've heard some great albums by older artists over the last few years and this one sits right up near the top.

I can continue to gush about all the brilliance to be heard on In Your Dreams but its best you just sit back press play on the CD player and go on this beautiful ride. I promise you won't be disappointed and you might even find that you have a new favorite album. Shockingly great!

Song Highlights: Wide Sargasso Sea, Annabel Lee, For What It's Worth, Ghosts Are Gone, Secret Love & Italian Summer.
