Sixx A.M. - This Is Gonna Hurt

Posted on 10:01 by Unknown

The sophomore release by Nikki Sixx's side project Sixx:A.M. returns this time with a much more cohesive sound that shows some growth from their average debut. The album's first single "Lies Of The Beautiful People" is an excellent modern rocker. The funny thing about this album as it could all be a new Crue record if Vince was singing. Sixx seems to be a little darker here than what you get from the glam rock from his main band.

I am surprised by Ashba's vocals this time around or maybe its just a better production on them because he's much more ear friendly here than anywhere on the previous record. The overall songs are much better as well so that can make a huge difference to the listening experience. This album makes the last Crue record even more disappointing considering how good the writing is on This Is Gonna Hurt. Too often does this album just kick ass that I'm hoping that this becomes Nikki's main project. The verses are solid they blast into excellent chorus and all with keeping the spirit of hard rock and colouring it in with the best of what modern rock has to offer. A very impressive album and one that actually lives up to its first singles awesomeness.

Song Highlights: Deadlihood, Lies Of The Beautiful People, Sure Feels Right*, Help Is On The Way & Smile
