All-American Rejects - Kids In The Street

Posted on 18:46 by Unknown
This band completely missed the boat on their new album. The songs are weak from structure to pop hook to being even drivel. When they were recording this record it sounds like they forgot who they were and wanted to be the indie version of some band that listens to way too much Jack Johnson. Even when they come up with a decent idea for a song it fails as with "Bleed Into Your Mind". The song goes absolutely nowhere as it climax's into some sort of Beatles psychedelic piece.

The band forget how to kick up their tempo's to something near a jog pace too often to make this anything but boring. If you want to hear total crap this album can do a fantastic job of showing in great detail how to come up short and how not to write songs. When they reach for Joe Jonas vocals on "Walk Over Me" I knew this album was done. There is the single "BeeKeeper's Daughter" which honestly I couldn't decide if I liked until I'd heard more than ten times and I don't hate it but I don't search my I-Pod for it or pull it out to play while rocking out at home.

There is much better music out right now than what Kids In The Street offers and so with that please go find something good to listen to because this is not it. This is also proven by the awful album art this book can be judged by its cover.
