Magic Kingdom - Symphony Of War
Posted on 12:45 by Unknown
As far as epic metal/progressive metal go there are so many bands that miss the mark with their inability to step away from their music long enough to listen to it and hear why it doesn't quite make the cut. Magic Kingdom are one of those bands who lack production to really make this music sound as good as it should. The songwriting is pretty good overall and the band has chops albeit their singer is typical of the genre. Some of the songs on the album are total barn burners and would sound brilliant with a better treatment in the studio. "Evil Magician" is begging for Bruce Dickenson to save it from mediocrity or "I'm A Lionheart" would sound much better performed by current day Saxon both decent tunes. Again the sameness over the chorus of thirteen tracks hurts the listening process as well.
The best part of this album is the "Metallic Tragedy" story and is was worth the entire time spent listening to the album.
